Overview of Role

 

This role supports the Lead Trainer & Assessor by delivering fibre cabling and splicing training and accreditations to upskill our field-based operatives to the industry standard. Through effective delivery of this role, you will support rapid mobilisation of fully accredited gangs onto contracted works on behalf of clients, including Openreach and Virgin Media, and support ongoing, long term enhancement of our workers’ skills to maintain high quality and safety standards at site.

 

Responsibilities

Deliver high quality training and accreditations specialising in, but not restricted to, fibre cabling and splicing:

  • Plan and organise training and assessments to keep Operative qualifications current for the work they do
  • Support the Lead Trainer & Assessor in creating training materials to ensure training is engaging, high quality and meets the requirements of the company and relevant accrediting bodies
  • Conduct in-field capability assessments
  • To identify their current capability level prior to training or accreditation
  • To deliver at-site accreditation assessments
  • To monitor ongoing capability, providing constructive feedback and coaching to those whose work is below standard
  • Maintain training records including accreditation documentation required by external accrediting bodies
  • Work with the HSEQ team to ensure statutory safety training is completed to the Company/ accrediting body standard
  • Conduct regular safety check of training centre equipment and provide feedback to the Lead Trainer & Assessor if replacement or additional training equipment is required
  • Collate and analyse learner feedback to identify opportunities to raise the impact of training and coaching, recommending and actioning improvements
  • Build and maintain productive relationships with internal & external stakeholders

Skills

  • Previous fibre cable training and/ or at-site coaching experience working for a communications infrastructure contractor
  • Experience of working on the BT network and knowledge of the BT accreditations and network regulations
  • Competent in one-to-one coaching
  • Strong communication skills, able to adapt their communication style to the audience and engage effectively at all levels
  • Proactive attitude: likes to be ahead of the game and thinking about continuous improvement
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines with excellent attention to detail
  • Organisation and planning skills, able to manage conflicting demands and prioritise effectively
  • Strong team player with an enthusiastic ‘can do’ approach
  • Flexibility to travel to various UK sites
  • Competent in the use of MS Office

Qualifications

Essential

  • NRSWA
  • Current Openreach fibre cabling accreditations
  • Full driver’s licence

 

Preferred

  • Recognised Assessor qualification (or working towards), e.g. TAQA
  • PIA fibre accreditations
