Job Description

 

Our client is looking for a Quantity Surveyor to join their established team in Launceston.

Role Requirements :

  • Value contractors’ work and certify interim and final payments
  • Assess and authorise submission of project variations
  • Assess, review and mitigate commercial and contractual risks through implementing our policies for risk management
  • Provide commercial and contractual expertise to teams, including producing valuation certification, issuing correspondence, claims, budget monitoring and producing contract/workstream performance data
  • Building and maintaining contractual relationships with build partners

Some of your key responsibilities will include:

  • Managing the commercial resources of your assigned projects, from planned expenditure through to placement of control of contracts
  • Supporting the authorisation and submission of project variations
  • Assessing, reviewing and mitigating commercial and contractual risks
  • Providing commercial and contractual expertise to contracts, including producing and submitting valuation certification, drafting and issuing correspondence, claims, budget monitoring and producing contract/workstream performance data
  • Providing robust, timely and accurate cost and value data at both project and regional level
  • Coaching, developing and mentoring junior members of the team

Candidate Requirements :

  • Quantity Surveyors are key players when it comes to commercial and contractual decisions, so you’ll need solid experience in commercial management and procuring contractors, working knowledge of NEC3 ECC forms plus.
  • The ability to negotiate with suppliers and partners
  • Experience with using spreadsheets to interpret and collate financial data
  • Presentation and report writing skills
  • Degree/HND or HNC in Quantity Surveying or a similar commercial degree in construction
  • Ideally, a background in telecoms, civil engineering or utilities
  • Excellent written and spoken English required
