Job Title: Procurement Manager
Location: Longstanton
Salary: up to £42,000
Job Type: Ongoing Contract

Our client is a leading provider of expertise to their clients to maintain and continue the development of the infrastructure of both highways and telecommunications sectors throughout the UK.

They are currently looking for a Procurement Manager to join their team on a fixed term contract, to help process procurement transactions accurately and on a timely basis.


Overview of Role

• Ensure all materials and services, of specified quality, acquired at the best possible price, are available to the business when required
• Develop and maintain an effective Procurement team
• Member of Purchase Order Processing software implementation team
• Supply useful management information and insightful comment to the management team

Key Accountabilities

• Identify and negotiate with suppliers in order to procure specified quality at best possible price
• Work with the HSEQ department to further develop the company’s procurement strategy, in compliance with best practice
• Work with Yard Manager to ensure that materials are available in accordance with forecast usage date and that stock values do not exceed group targets
• Manage Procurement strategy to support the achievement of Group working capital targets
• Responsible for Purchase Order process, to ensure robust controls are maintained, procurement follows agreed policy, and all record keeping completed in an accurate and timely manner
• Ensure processing of non-materials orders in accordance with company policy, in an accurate and timely manner
• Maintain a good flow of information with Yard and Fleet & Plant colleagues to ensure best possible service is provided to the business
• Supervise, motivate and develop Procurement team to support delivery of the objectives of the Procurement Department
• Proactively propose improvements to Procurement and Stock Management processes
• Develop and supply a suite of management reports and comment to encourage and support effective resource spend in the business


Key Skills

• Knowledge of fibre optic network materials used by major providers – e.g. Virgin Media, Gigaclear, Openreach
• Knowledge of civils materials commonly used in the installation of fibre optic networks
• Experience of using Purchase Order software
• Experience of Staff Management and Team Development
• IT literate
