Our client is a leading provider of expertise to their clients to maintain and continue the development of the infrastructure of both highways and telecommunications sectors throughout the UK.
Due to continued growth and expansion, they are currently looking to recruit an IT Technician to join their established team in the Cambridgeshire area.
Description:
The successful candidate will be responsible for accountable for maintaining the IT infrastructure and providing day to day service to end users through the prioritisation of work taken from the ticket system, phone, messaging or face to face. Will also complete initial triage of the issue and resolve where able escalating more complex queries within the IT team and to the Head of IT where appropriate.
IT Technical will ensure the business has the IT equipment to undertake their role effectively processing requests for IT kit set-up in line with agreed SLAs.
IT Technician will also be assisting with producing monthly reports and documentation within the IT Department.
Responsibilities:
- Identify and promote opportunities for enhancing the existing IT architecture and infrastructure to optimise the Group’s operational delivery.
- Deliver a high level of customer service to internal customers. Work collaboratively with the business to ensure the service delivered is appropriately delivered and to their requirements including but not limited to the support of databases, printers, networks, desk phones, mobiles, desktops, laptops etc.
- Ensure the group’s network, systems and data are secure with appropriate defences and processes in place to keep security up to date.
- Ensure all work is prioritised accordingly updating status of open tickets regularly with prompt closure of tickets on completion of work.
- To ensure availability of services, prioritising operational focus and to recommend and manage any change to process to improve BAU and enhance productivity.
- Helping to maintain the asset management database for equipment & software.
- Maintain access rights for day-to-day users and license management.
- Basic network installation, configuration and maintenance.
- Build, Setup and deploy equipment & software.
- Assist in the recovery of equipment & software.
- Ensure your work is undertaken safely and in compliance with company policies and procedures.
Skills:
- Solid technical background with exposure and experience of Microsoft Products, Windows Installation & Setup, general hardware and troubleshooting.
- Basic knowledge of network infrastructures, web technologies and security best practices.
- Positive ‘can do’ attitude. Ability to excel under pressure and adopt effective problem-solving skills to create innovative solutions.
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to clearly communicate complex IT concepts to non-technical colleagues in a suitable fashion.
- Solution driven with a focus on providing outstanding customer service.

Qualifications
- GCSEs in related subjects with English and Maths
- Experience within technical support is desirable
