Job Title: Build Manager

Having played a major part in the UK Telecoms industry for over 20 years, our client is a dynamic infrastructure delivery and management consultancy who service some of the biggest names in the UK Telecoms industry.


Due to continued expansion, they are currently recruiting a Build Manager to be based either at the Manchester or Berkshire office. The successful candidate will have overall responsibility for the management of the construction department and the programme/project requirements that fall within this department. This will include meeting all client/internal deliverables within specified timescales, whilst also adhering to all matters of HSE and QA. The successful candidate will need to have previous UK Telecoms experience as well as experience of Cellnex and/or Arqiva projects.


Role Requirements

Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, the main role responsibilities will include:

  • Management of internal/external resources in the delivery of decommissioning, tendering, REC management, construction, and site audit inspections
  • Management of a team of project engineers including evaluation of staff performance, internal/external resource levels, recruitment, and staff discipline, where applicable.
  • H&S Management, including the implementation of CDM
  • Maintenance of real time progress and daily/weekly client reporting for all works on both internal and external databases
  • Ad-hoc reports as required by the client from time to time
  • Attendance at Multi Skilled Visits (MSV’s), health and safety audits and handover inspections on sites, as required
  • Agreeing of variation instructions, compensation events and change requests and negotiation of valuations and final accounts
  • Provision of design expertise and support to internal departments
  • Weekly client meeting discussing programme and issues
  • Benchmarking
  • Milestone and revenue forecasting
  • Liaising with all parties at all levels of the business
  • Managing compilation of hand over pack documentation
  • Attend site handover meetings with client if necessary
  • Site Management – conduct site inductions and oversee construction works



Candidate Requirements


  • Degree Qualified in Civil Engineering / Building Services or similar would be preferred but experience will be taken into account
  • Experience within the UK Telecommunications industry, with 5+ years highly desirable
  • Working knowledge of Construction Design Management Regulations
  • Knowledge of Construction techniques Rules, regulations, laws and bi-laws both English and EU; applicable to the Construction Industry
  • Minimum of 5 years relevant experience in the same (or similar) role
  • Experience of installation and commissioning on BTS/Node B equipment with variety of vendors, preferably extending to optimisation and integration
  • Personnel & Client relationship management
  • Commercial awareness – Costing and benchmarking
  • H&S Management for monthly reporting
  • Administrating and managing framework agreements with Sub-Contractors
  • Computer literate and competent in the use of Microsoft Office packages including, word, excel and outlook with a good understanding of databases
  • Strong commercial awareness and business acumen
  • Flexible & professional approach to work and be a team player
  • Self-motivated, confident & organised
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain professional relationships with all relevant stakeholders
  • Excellent communication skills – both verbal & written
  • Ability to handle heavy workload & competing priorities


Must have UK telecoms experience as well as have experience of working in a similar role and have experience of Cellnex Project, Arqiva etc.
